I’m Back!

30 Mar

Okay, I admit I have been neglecting my blog for quite some time. So today I am officially making the commitment to try to blog at least twice a week. No excuses! I have some exciting new things that I can’t wait to share with all of my lovely followers.

I have been thinking lately about what direction I want to take this blog in. I started to think about why I even started it in the first place. After all, what makes a woman feel gorgeous? Is it the perfect little black dress, classic red lip, and some killer stiletto heels, or is it something much deeper? Something I have learned over the years is that in order to feel beautiful on the outside you must first feel beautiful on the inside. There is a quote that summarizes what I’m talking about perfectly, “You will radiate outer beauty if you treasure inner beauty.”

For me being healthy both physically and mentally helps me feel beautiful on the outside. One thing you should know about me is that I am a huge fitness/health nut. Two years ago, I was at my highest weight at around 175lbs. I was so tired of always feeling down on myself and hating my body. I new it was time to make a change so I started exercising more and joined Weight Watchers. It’s been a loooooong road with a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. I can’t even tell you how many times i wanted to quit (and did), how many times I told myself I couldn’t do it, how many times I told myself “I’ll start tomorrow.” But eventually things started getting easier. As the weight kept coming off, I started feeling better than I’ve felt in a long time. I discovered that I love pilates and running, something that I never thought I would be able to do. I love finding healthy recipes and creating new ones too! It was no longer an effort for me, it became a lifestyle change. I can proudly say that I am in the best shape of my life. At 142lbs, I have lost a total of 33lbs since 2011! I still have a little bit more to lose before I hit my goal weight, but honestly it’s not the number on the scale that matters. For me, it’s feeling happy and proud of the progress that I’ve made and didn’t think that I was capable of.

Sooooo…..I’ve decided to start using chellogorgeous as a way to share my health & fitness advice as well as my beauty bits! I will be posting some yummy recipes, my exercise routines, as well as my progress (yes there will be pictures). Thanks so much for taking the time to read and stay tuned for more great posts to follow!

My First Love…

10 Jan

This is totally un-beauty related, but I wanted to share it with you guys anyway. Before I ever got into makeup I have always had one other passion, music. Music has always been my first love and I don’t know what I would ever do without it. It is my escape. It is my therapy. Sometimes in life, you are forced to face challenges and obstacles that you never thought you would have to face. This happened to me recently and music is one of the only things is helping me get through it. For that, I am forever grateful for the beauty within each melody and harmony I am able to hear.

My mom and I learned a song yesterday. It’s called “Safe and Sound” by Taylor Swift ft The Civil Wars and it is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever come across. We decided to record it and put it on YouTube and I thought I would share it!

Thank you for taking the time to read and hopefully listen ♥

Review: Clarisonic Mia ♥

8 Jan

Image

I finally jumped on the Clarisonic bandwagon, & I can honestly say that I have no regrets. This little device has completely changed my life. Okay, maybe that’s a little bit dramatic, but seriously, I cannot begin to tell you how much it has changed the overall appearance of my skin. So much that I wish I would have made this purchase a looooooong time ago.

What kept me from purchasing this gem? Well, it is pricey.. The Clarisonic Mia retails for $119. Even though it’s the cheapest model out of the Clarisonic family, that’s a lot of buckaroos for a post college grad to be shelling out. Luckily, I used my magic super saving powers and paid a total of, drum roll please……….$0.00! That’s right, I paid absolutely nothing for my Clarisonic Mia! How, you ask? Well, I purchased my Mia through Birchbox. Birchbox is a subscription service that sends you four or five delux high-end beauty products once a month for $10 a month. For each product that you review online, you receive 10 Birchbox points. When you reach 100 points, Birchbox gives you $10 to spend in the Birchbox store. I had saved up a total of 700 points ($70). I also received a coupon code for 20% off. After using the coupon code, the Mia came to $95.20 . Subtract the $70 and the total came out to $25.20 . I paid the balance with Jingit money. If you haven’t heard of Jingit, it’s a website that pays you to watch advertisements. It sounds sketchy but it’s totally legit, it’s free to sign up, & it’s great for a little extra pocket money. Hey, who doesn’t like free money?
Whew, that was a lot of explaining. Hope I wasn’t too confusing. Anyway, back to the Clarisonic Mia…

The Mia is the smallest and most compact model out of the Clarisonic family. I love it because it’s perfect for traveling.
Using sonic technology, the Clarisonic Mia cleans your skin 6x better than if you were to just use your hands alone. Amazing, I know.
I usually use my Clarisonic Mia at night. The first time I used it, I couldn’t believe how much makeup was still on my face even after using a makeup removing wipe. The proof was in the brush, it turned tan! To think, I was leaving all that makeup on my skin everyday prior to using the Mia, gross!
The Clarisonic Mia is user friendly. All you have to do is wet your face, put the cleanser of your choice on the brush, push the button, & use the Mia in small circular motions to cleanse the face. It only takes a minute to use &the results are incredible. My skin has never

felt softer & looked brighter. Also, it has helped clear up my acne!
It comes with a small bottle of gel cleanser & a magnetic charger. If you were wondering, the Mia can be used twenty times before it needs to be charged again. I would say the only con is that it takes 24 hours for it to completely charge which is a bit annoying.

I definitely recommend the Clarisonic Mia 100%. I would even pay full price for it If I had to, it’s that good. Go get yourself one! You won’t regret it!

The Christmas TAG ♥

9 Dec

IMG_1097

I love December.  Specifically, anything that has to do with Christmas.  Today we decorated our tree (isn’t it pretty?) & it definitely put me in a holly jolly mood.  I came across this Christmas tag and thought I would share it with you!

Q.  What’s your favorite thing about Christmas?

I would have to say just getting together with my family who I don’t get to see that often.  Oh, and the food of coarse!

Q.  What’s you’re favorite makeup look for the festive season?

Shimmery neutral eyes, winged liner, and berry lips.

Q.  Real tree or fake tree?

Real!  One of my favorite family traditions is going on our annual tree hunt with our family friends.  We’ve been going to the same place since I was really little.  Afterwards, we have a huge feast at my house.  This year it included a 30lb lasagna! haha

Q.  Giving or receiving presents?

I’m not gonna lie and tell you that I don’t like opening presents; however,  I think I enjoy giving to others more.  I love the feeling of giving out gifts.  It really brings me joy 🙂

Q.  Do you open Christmas presents morning or evening?

Always morning.  My Mom does let us open one present on Christmas Eve, our Christmas pajamas.  Even at 22, i would be sad if we stopped that tradition!

Q.  Handmade Christmas cards or bought?

Handmade is always nice but who has the time? haha

Q.  What’s your favorite Christmas film?

Ahhhh, so hard to chose!  Probably Elf.  Then again I absolutely love National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.  Both are hilarious!

Q.  What’s your favorite Christmas food?

Christmas Eve dinner in it’s entirety!  If you’re Italian like me, you probably know about the feast of the seven fishes.  Traditionally including at least seven seafood dishes.  Probably my favorite meal of the year!

So there you have it.  Now, it wouldn’t be a proper tag without tagging other people sooo….

I tag YOU!

Happy Sunday 🙂

NOTD: Holiday Nails!

8 Dec

Hey guys!  Yesterday, my sister and I took a trip to Walmart.  As always, I couldn’t leave without checking out the nail polish.  My eye was immediately drawn to this silver glitter polish by Revlon called “Stunning.”  Let me tell you, the name fits the polish perfectly.  I knew it would be perfect for layering!

Image

When I got home I couldn’t wait to try it out.  I decided to pair it with OPI’s Designer De Better from their holiday 2011 collection which is one of my all time favorites!

Image

This may be my new favorite nail polish combo.  It reminds me so much of Christmas ornaments!
