Spring Time NOTD

26 Apr

20130426-222318.jpg
I’ve been playing around with my nail art tools a lot lately. I’m finally starting to get the hang of them! Just goes to show that you don’t have to be a nail expert to make it look like you just spent some moolah in the nail salon 🙂

Colors used:
Color Club cobalt blue (not sure exactly what the name of this is. Got it in my Birchbox a while back and the sticker fell off)
Opi “Alpine Snow” for the white base
Opi “Jade is the New Black” for the leaves
Butter London “The Black Knight” for the center of the flowers.

Helloooooo!
Tonight I had the chance to go back in time to the roaring 20’s & attend a ritzy party hosted by my county’s chamber of commerce. I, along with a few of my fellow actor friends, had the opportunity to take pictures and mingle with the guests using the proper 1920’s lingo in full out 1920’s hair and makeup. It was a great way to help promote our local community theatre. We even danced the charleston alongside a full out 1920’s big band. It was the bees knees!
Of course my favorite part of the night was doing my hair and makeup!
On the eyes I used a black gel liner as the base and then blended it up into the crease. I then blended a soft brown shadow into my crease to ad some depth. I patted a matte black shade on top of the black base to intensify it and lined my lower lash line and water line with a black gel liner. I used a matte cream colored shadow to highlight my brown one and inner tear duct. Finally, I applied a couple coats of black mascara.
On the checks I softly applied a peachy pink blush, and for the lips I used my favorite red lipstick (revlon lip butter in red velvet)

For my hair all I really did was curl it, part it on the side and pin up in pin curls. It took forever because I have so much hair but I love the finished look! What do you think?

NOTD: Essie “Miss Fancy Pants” & LA Splash Nail Glitter

16 Feb

Hello lovelies! Sorry i haven’t blogged in a while.
So today is a really exciting day for me because in a couple of hours I will be on my way to NYC to audition for The Voice! If you don’t know what the voice is it’s a singing competition on tv, kind of like American Idol but way better in my opinion. Anyway, here are my nails that i decided to paint at 12am because I couldn’t sleep haha.

I used Essie “Miss Fancy Pants” which is a really nice cool grey. On my accent nail I added this awesome nail art glitter by LA Splash in the color “Golden Egg.” I probably will be doing a blog post dedicated to just those in the near future because they are awesome!

Hope you guys have a wonderful Saturday!

NOTD: OPI “Mod About You”

9 Jan

“Mod About You” is part of OPI’s Bright’s collection from 2008. It’s the perfect bubble gum Barbie pink. Normally I wouldn’t wear colors this bright in the winter but I couldn’t resist! This would be a great color to wear in the summer time for when you have a little bit of a tan. The formula of this color is thicker than others. It was almost completely opaque with just one coat!

NOTD: New Years Eve Nails

30 Dec

New Year’s Eve is tomorrow. What? When did this happen. I honestly can say that I have never been more happy for the clock to strike midnight tomorrow night. 2012 has kind of been a pretty sucky year for me for a number of reasons. Tomorrow, I will be celebrating New Year’s Eve in Brooklyn with friends that I haven’t seen since graduation & I am so incredibly excited! Since I will be traveling in the morning, I decided to paint my nails today.

What I used:
3 coats of Sephora by opi “If You Got it, Haunt It”
I also applied a little bit of Revlon “Stunning” at the base of my nails just to add a bit more sparkle.

I hope you guys have an incredible New Year’s! See you in 2013 ♥

NOTD: Holiday Nails!

8 Dec

Hey guys!  Yesterday, my sister and I took a trip to Walmart.  As always, I couldn’t leave without checking out the nail polish.  My eye was immediately drawn to this silver glitter polish by Revlon called “Stunning.”  Let me tell you, the name fits the polish perfectly.  I knew it would be perfect for layering!

When I got home I couldn’t wait to try it out.  I decided to pair it with OPI’s Designer De Better from their holiday 2011 collection which is one of my all time favorites!

This may be my new favorite nail polish combo.  It reminds me so much of Christmas ornaments!
