I’ve been playing around with my nail art tools a lot lately. I’m finally starting to get the hang of them! Just goes to show that you don’t have to be a nail expert to make it look like you just spent some moolah in the nail salon 🙂

Colors used:
Color Club cobalt blue (not sure exactly what the name of this is. Got it in my Birchbox a while back and the sticker fell off)
Opi “Alpine Snow” for the white base
Opi “Jade is the New Black” for the leaves
Butter London “The Black Knight” for the center of the flowers.

Bring on the Pancakes

10 Apr

Hey guys! Today I’m going to share with you two amazingly delicious pancake recipes. Both are simple to make and so satisfying. Oh, and did I mention they are both weight watchers friendly? Score!

Healthy Pancake Recipe #1
IMG_1618

This first recipe is from my girl Cassey Ho. If you haven’t heard of her, shes a YouTube fitness guru who started POP pilates. Go check out her blog, blogilates.com, for some awesome recipes, fitness videos, and inspirational tidbits.

Ingredients:
2 eggs
1 banana

Mash the banana and eggs together, cook, and serve! So simple. I like to add a dash of cinnamon and a splash of vanilla to mine just to add a bit more sweetness but they are definitely scrumptious enough to eat on their own.

Healthy Pancake Recipe #2

Okay, this recipe is probably my favorite of the two. Mainly because these pancakes are super filling and are only 5 weight watchers points per stack! Crazy, I know. You should go follow runninggirlslim_ on instagram because that’s where I got this oh so addicting recipe.

Ingredients:
1/3 cup oats
1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
2 egg whites
2 tbs flaxseeds
1/2 banana

Blend all together, cook, and serve. Like the other pancakes, I like to add a little bit of cinnamon. Super tasty 🙂

Let me know if you guys try out any of these recipes!

1920’s Flapper Hair & Makeup

Helloooooo!
Tonight I had the chance to go back in time to the roaring 20’s & attend a ritzy party hosted by my county’s chamber of commerce. I, along with a few of my fellow actor friends, had the opportunity to take pictures and mingle with the guests using the proper 1920’s lingo in full out 1920’s hair and makeup. It was a great way to help promote our local community theatre. We even danced the charleston alongside a full out 1920’s big band. It was the bees knees!
Of course my favorite part of the night was doing my hair and makeup!
On the eyes I used a black gel liner as the base and then blended it up into the crease. I then blended a soft brown shadow into my crease to ad some depth. I patted a matte black shade on top of the black base to intensify it and lined my lower lash line and water line with a black gel liner. I used a matte cream colored shadow to highlight my brown one and inner tear duct. Finally, I applied a couple coats of black mascara.
On the checks I softly applied a peachy pink blush, and for the lips I used my favorite red lipstick (revlon lip butter in red velvet)

For my hair all I really did was curl it, part it on the side and pin up in pin curls. It took forever because I have so much hair but I love the finished look! What do you think?

I’m Back!

30 Mar

Okay, I admit I have been neglecting my blog for quite some time. So today I am officially making the commitment to try to blog at least twice a week. No excuses! I have some exciting new things that I can’t wait to share with all of my lovely followers.

I have been thinking lately about what direction I want to take this blog in. I started to think about why I even started it in the first place. After all, what makes a woman feel gorgeous? Is it the perfect little black dress, classic red lip, and some killer stiletto heels, or is it something much deeper? Something I have learned over the years is that in order to feel beautiful on the outside you must first feel beautiful on the inside. There is a quote that summarizes what I’m talking about perfectly, “You will radiate outer beauty if you treasure inner beauty.”

For me being healthy both physically and mentally helps me feel beautiful on the outside. One thing you should know about me is that I am a huge fitness/health nut. Two years ago, I was at my highest weight at around 175lbs. I was so tired of always feeling down on myself and hating my body. I new it was time to make a change so I started exercising more and joined Weight Watchers. It’s been a loooooong road with a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. I can’t even tell you how many times i wanted to quit (and did), how many times I told myself I couldn’t do it, how many times I told myself “I’ll start tomorrow.” But eventually things started getting easier. As the weight kept coming off, I started feeling better than I’ve felt in a long time. I discovered that I love pilates and running, something that I never thought I would be able to do. I love finding healthy recipes and creating new ones too! It was no longer an effort for me, it became a lifestyle change. I can proudly say that I am in the best shape of my life. At 142lbs, I have lost a total of 33lbs since 2011! I still have a little bit more to lose before I hit my goal weight, but honestly it’s not the number on the scale that matters. For me, it’s feeling happy and proud of the progress that I’ve made and didn’t think that I was capable of.

Sooooo…..I’ve decided to start using chellogorgeous as a way to share my health & fitness advice as well as my beauty bits! I will be posting some yummy recipes, my exercise routines, as well as my progress (yes there will be pictures). Thanks so much for taking the time to read and stay tuned for more great posts to follow!

NOTD: Essie “Miss Fancy Pants” & LA Splash Nail Glitter

16 Feb

Hello lovelies! Sorry i haven’t blogged in a while.
So today is a really exciting day for me because in a couple of hours I will be on my way to NYC to audition for The Voice! If you don’t know what the voice is it’s a singing competition on tv, kind of like American Idol but way better in my opinion. Anyway, here are my nails that i decided to paint at 12am because I couldn’t sleep haha.

I used Essie “Miss Fancy Pants” which is a really nice cool grey. On my accent nail I added this awesome nail art glitter by LA Splash in the color “Golden Egg.” I probably will be doing a blog post dedicated to just those in the near future because they are awesome!

Hope you guys have a wonderful Saturday!

My First Love…

10 Jan

This is totally un-beauty related, but I wanted to share it with you guys anyway. Before I ever got into makeup I have always had one other passion, music. Music has always been my first love and I don’t know what I would ever do without it. It is my escape. It is my therapy. Sometimes in life, you are forced to face challenges and obstacles that you never thought you would have to face. This happened to me recently and music is one of the only things is helping me get through it. For that, I am forever grateful for the beauty within each melody and harmony I am able to hear.

My mom and I learned a song yesterday. It’s called “Safe and Sound” by Taylor Swift ft The Civil Wars and it is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever come across. We decided to record it and put it on YouTube and I thought I would share it!

Safe and Sound- Taylor Swift ft The Civil Wars cover

Thank you for taking the time to read and hopefully listen ♥
